Carmel Mayor Declares Janna Hymes Day

It was an honor to have Carmel Mayor James Brainard proclaim our 2017-2018 season opener on October 14, 2017 officially “Janna Hymes Day,” marking Hymes first official concert as the Carmel Symphony Orchestra’s (CSO) new Music Director.

“Truly a wonderful way to welcome Janna Hymes to the Carmel Symphony Orchestra family and to acknowledge our 42nd season as Carmel’s resident orchestra,” says Alan Davis, executive director for the CSO. “We are elated with the her addition and excited to begin a new era of orchestral excellence.”

Where as, the City of Carmel has a strong and long-standing commitment to supporting its arts community as major contributor to its overall quality of life and economic development strategy;

Where as, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra has been an intrinsic part of our local arts community since 1975;
Where as, with this unique historic perspective, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, as the Resident Orchestra of The Palladium at The Center for the Performing Arts, is positioning itself to move forward into A New Era for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra with the appointment of Music Director, Janna Hymes, a conductor of exceptional artistic talent and dedication who rose above the field of applicants; and
Where as today, October 14, Janna Hymes makes her debut as the Music Director of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra.

Now, therefore, I, James Brainard, Mayor of the City of Carmel, Indiana, do proclaim Saturday October 14, 2017 as
