Ila Rondeau
Violist Ila Rondeau makes her home in Indianapolis where she regularly performs with the Cincinnati Symphony, the Columbus (OH) Symphony, the Dayton Philharmonic, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Terre Haute Symphony and, this next season, with the Carmel Symphony. Ila began learning to play the viola through the Indianapolis public school system and went on to continue her studies at the world renown Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Mark Jackobs, Peter Salaff and members of the Cavani String Quartet. Ila is previously a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans where she was privileged to play alongside musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Midori, Ellis Marsalis and Harry Connick Jr.
As a member of the LPO Ila appeared in concert with Bela Fleck for a performance of his work for string quartet and banjo “Night Flight Over Water” and also appeared in Carnegie Hall in New York City in celebration of American composer Philip Glass’ 80th birthday.
Ila also appears in numerous recorded projects including film, television and the Grammy-nominated album “Green Balloon” by Tank & the Bangas.
As a member of the New Orleans-based chamber ensemble Musaica, Ila appeared in concert throughout the region. She has also performed with the Britt Festival in Oregon.
