Pre-Fireworks Concert Will Feature Lincoln’s Portrait, Narrated By Henry Fogel
Carmel Symphony Orchestra will perform on July 4 at 8:30 p.m.
(Carmel, Indiana – June 18, 2019) The Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will perform at CarmelFest on July 4, 2019. Audience members are encouraged to gather with their family and friends on the lawn at Carmel City Hall by 8 p.m., to enjoy the festivities, which will include a flag ceremony.
The CSO, conducted by Maestro Janna Hymes, will perform at approximately 8:30 p.m. before the fireworks show begins at 9:45 p.m. The concert will feature patriotic favorites including The Star-Spangled Banner, The National Emblem, American Salute, Stars and Stripes Forever, 76 Trombones, and many more.

A highlight of the evening will be the performance of American composer Aaron Copland’s moving orchestral work, Lincoln Portrait. The musical portrait includes narration of speeches and letters written by President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. Narration will be provided by Henry Fogel, Dean Emeritus and Distinguished Professor of the Arts of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
